Moore House Wall Section
Detailed drawing was produced from researching and analyzing the main intentions of the house, its function of everything partially being glass from the exterior.
Section at Corner of Window of living room
A. 2 x 10 Douglas fir joists. Since these are concealed they are fir rather than redwood.
B. Wood deck lifted on WEDGES to achieve a slope for drainage.
C. Gravel on four layers of 15 lb roofing felt mopped with hot asphalt for waterproofing.
D. Ceiling of 1 x 6 redwood strips 7’’oc nailed to 1x6 redwood board ELIMINATES the need for tongue and groove joints.
E. 4 x 16 laminated lintel from 2 x 16s.
F. Galvanized iron gravel guard and 3/4’’ redwood fascia.
G. 2 x 10 redwood outrigger.
H. FRAME LESS 1/4’’ plate glass set into column and ceiling.
I. Operable ventilation panel and seat.
J. 1/4’’ x 4’’ redwood louvers. Since the glass is FRAME LESS and fixed, ventilation must be provided elsewhere.
K.Glass set in groove of wood ceiling beyond.
L. 4 x 4 solid redwood post to provide structural support for the beam. It is extended to visually engage the landscape beyond.
